Services We Offer

Chiropractic Adjustments

Specific adjustments of the spine, pelvis and other joints, can help relieve pain and restore function.  Other symptoms that be relieved are tingling, numbness and loss of function. We offer the both manual (by hand) adjustments and precise, instrument-based, low-force adjustments.

Soft Tissue Work

Soft Tissue Work can help release pain trapped by internal scarring or adhesions, chronic pain and improves range of motion.

Soft tissue work can be done with a handful of techniques included Active Release Therapy, Cupping Therapy, or other options.

Flexion Distraction Therapy

Flexion-distraction therapy is performed on a segmented table that moves as your chiropractor slowly manipulates your spine. The manipulations, combined with the movements of the table, stretch and decompress your spine, relieving your back, leg, neck, or arm pain.

As your chiropractor performs the gentle manipulations, a section of the treatment tablemoves, changing the positioning of your body. When your body moves slightly, gravity enhances the effects of treatment and helps realign your spine.

Sports Injury Treatment

If you’re struggling to get over an acute or chronic sports injury, we can help. A combination of chiropractic care, soft tissue therapies, Class IV laser and/or nutritional support can help you regain control over your body.

Class IV Laser Therapy

This advanced laser therapy (photobiomodulation) can help eliminate pain, inflammation and increase range of motion.   It also helps facilitate healing by accelerating  the process of cellular restoration.  In addition to providing relief to low back pain associated with disc issues and muscle spasms, our Class IV laser is great for treating a variety of other issues such as: tennis elbow, knee arthritis, bursitis, frozen shoulder, hip impingement, TMJ and countless other ailments.  Our chiropractors will help you determine whether or not this is a service that could be beneficial to incorporate into your care.

Auto Accident Injury Treatment

Even minor car accidents have been shown to cause whiplash and other structural issues. Our chiropractors are well-versed in treating whiplash, sciatica, seatbelt injuries and other musculoskeletal problems caused by auto accidents. Schedule your evaluation as soon as possible so we can treat your symptoms before complications develop.

Chronic pain and illness care

Many chronic conditions are actually secondary to spinal misalignments that impair nerve function. We can help you manage your health challenges more effectively with specific chiropractic care and supportive modalities such as soft tissues work and Class IV laser therapy.

Prenatal Care

Both of our chiropractors are Webster Certified by the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) and we love working with expecting mothers.  Prenatal chiropratic care can help in 3 ways… to help relieve the aches and pains of pregnancy, promote a comfortable delivery and reduced labor time and to help restore proper function to mama’s body and nervous system to optimize the environment for growing a developing baby.

OUR DOCTORS

Dr. Chris Sullivan

Dr. Chris Sullivan is a native of Des Moines, IA. Growing up he was an avid baseball player and wrestler. He attended Iowa State University for his undergraduate degrees.

While at college Dr. Sullivan had his first experience with chiropractic, utilizing it to help him with a long-term shoulder injury that even surgery did not help. This radically changed his career path and led him to Palmer College, “The Fountainhead” in Davenport, IA. In addition to traditional methods, Dr. Sullivan was certified in the treatment of disc injuries and sports injuries during his time at Palmer.

Dr. John Lancaster

Dr. John Lancaster

Dr. John Lancaster has been interested in a career in healthcare since he was a child.  His focus shifted towards a more holistic approach to health and healing when he experienced incredible results with chiropractic care after a rock climbing accident in college.

After an extended period living and working around the world in a number of different fields, Dr. Lancaster returned to Life University in Marietta, Georgia where he received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree and graduated as the valedictorian of his class. After learning the traditional chiropractic approach at Life University, he expanded his education by studying Structural Corrective chiropractic care to correct Atlas Displacement Complex as well as prenatal and pediatric care through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association.

Atlas Displacement Complex

Atlas Displacement Complex

Atlas Displacement Complex (ADC) is an extremely common problem that occurs when the top bone in the neck is misaligned. This is often the primary cause underlying a pleathora of secondary issues such as: Headaches, Migraines, Neck Pain, Back Pain, Vertigo, Tinnitus, TMJ and Blood Pressure issues. We utilize specific, instrument based, image guided techniques to  correct the alignment at the top of the spine to correct the primary cause creating those symptoms and promote improved posture.

Anterior Head Syndrome

Anterior Head Syndrome (AHS) is another common issue we often see in our office.  This occurs when the head is sitting out in front of the shoulders.  While it is a common finding, it is far from normal. There are multiple daily habits and activities that play a role in the development of Anterior Head Syndrome: extended computer use, driving and texting/any position where the neck is flexed down for prolonged periods of time. This is often referred to as tech neck, though it’s development is not limited to the use of technology.  In addition to the negative impact it has on ones appearance it can also lead to many secondary conditions like fatigue, neck/back pain, headache, brain fog, numbness in the arms, and much more.

We are able to correct AHS in our office and do so on a regular basis. By addressing and correcting reduced and reversed spinal curvature and poor posture we can relieve the plethora of secondary symptoms related to AHS.

Great approach to fix your back and more. Their thorough evaluation, including x-rays has me feeling better after the first visit. They don't rely on guessing what the problem is, they know.

I’m happy that we found Dr. Lancaster and his clinic, he is very kind and attentive to patients’ health details. When you meet such type of people you just feel that everything is going to be fine. He knows even how to deal with babies when they cry. We came here with our 8 months old daughter and after 3 appointments I already see changes in her movement abilities, she finally started crawling. We feel very welcome in the clinic and I’d definitely recommend it to everyone.

I was visiting Joint Chiropractor and after little improvement, I decided to return back to Dr. Sullivan and Dr. Lancaster. I seen Dr. Sullivan last year and he was awesome and I seen tremendous progress from a 2008 accident. This time I am working with Dr. Lancaster and he too is awesome, as he has been able to do more work in 2 visits, then what I received at Joint Chiropractor in 12 visits. I am looking forward to being fully healed.
